The Wan Family Archive is a multilingual, cross-generational collection of documents that trace the lineage and lived experiences of the Wan family. At its heart is a Classical Chinese genealogy manuscript, last updated in 1918, which was translated and expanded with updated family records. The collection opens with a letter from a distant great-great-uncle born in America, offering a rare perspective from the early Chinese diaspora, and concludes with an autobiographical account of my grandfather’s personal immigration story. Together, these texts form a layered portrait of migration, memory, and identity, bridging languages, borders, and centuries in one deeply personal archive.
